Lumin Brand Story

Mr. Zhao Huan, founder of Lumin, was born in 1982 in Xiangyin County, Hunan Province, China. In his childhood, the socio-economic development was slow, and in rural areas, they had not yet had access to electricity or incandescent bulbs. At night, people can only use dim kerosene lamps for illumination. Every night, he reviews his homework under the dim yellow kerosene lamp. He thought at that time, how great it would be if there was a bright light at home. He secretly vowed to study hard, master technological knowledge, pursue brightness, and motivate himself to contribute to the construction of the motherland. After unremitting efforts, he was admitted to Hunan University of Science and Technology for further studies.

At the beginning of the 21st century, China experienced rapid economic development. After graduating from university, Mr. Zhao Huan devoted himself to the tide of China's economic construction. He has worked as a high school teacher, a salesperson for foreign trade companies, a translator for multinational corporations, a project coordinator for overseas enterprises in the United Arab Emirates, and a foreign trade manager for state-owned enterprise Konka Group. After trying multiple careers, he kept asking himself, what was his original intention? What is his long-term career goal? Where is his future?

At that time, LED white lighting developed rapidly and became a new driving force in the lighting industry. Compared to traditional lighting, LED lighting has unparalleled advantages: first, solid-state light source, cold light source, easy to control, more convenient lamp design; second, environmentally friendly, the lamp production process will not produce garbage that pollutes the environment; third, high lighting efficiency, energy saving and emission reduction.

After returning to China from Dubai, Mr. Zhao coincidentally entered the LED lighting industry in 2008. Here, he found the goal of his lifelong struggle.

Mr. Zhao was a lucky person and trendsetter of that era. After several years of accumulation, he founded the Lumin brand in Hong Kong in 2009 and established his own lighting factory in Shenzhen in 2013. Lumin is positioned as a high-quality supplier of indoor lighting solutions. The Chinese homophone for Lumin is "LV Ming". Lumin in English means the origin of light. The meaning in Chinese is green lighting, which means environmental protection.

Over the past decade, both Mr. Zhao and Lumin have been pursuing higher light efficiency and more energy-efficient lighting solutions. In 2018, the LED lighting industry became increasingly mature. The LED lighting industry has also become a very traditional industry. However, this is an industry closely related to people's health and well-being. Under the leadership of Mr. Zhao, Lumin braved the wind and waves, chased the tide, and traveled steadily and far. Meanwhile, Lumin is constantly reviewing its positioning and development direction. Mr. Zhao believes that in today's lighting industry, there are four trends: first, price priority, as long as the light can be turned on, without considering light efficiency, light and health. Secondly, pursuing high luminous efficiency and energy conservation remains one of the mainstream developments in the LED lighting industry. Thirdly, explore the segmented fields of LED lighting and become a leader in professional lighting. Fourthly, explore the relationship between light and health, practice the concept of healthy lighting, and become a leader in the industry.

Mr. Zhao Huan and the Lumin team are constantly exploring the concept of healthy lighting and solutions for product applications. He believes that light is not just about turning on lights, artificial light sources should be able to care for human health just like outdoor sunlight. Compared with natural sunlight, traditional white LED based on blue light technology has natural defects: firstly, the blue light peak is discontinuous, and a single blue light peak is not friendly to human vision. Secondly, traditional white LED lacks the necessary purple UVA for human visual development and protection; Thirdly, traditional white LEDs lack the rich red spectral range that is crucial for human growth and development.

At present, most people have not yet realized the significant impact of traditional LED defects on health. Although the cost of artificial sunlight is still high, the practical need to make healthy artificial sunlight affordable for more people is becoming increasingly urgent. Lumin's current efforts are to provide the best artificial solar spectrum, making its spectrum closer to natural light, increasing its light efficiency, and continuously reducing its cost, making artificial solar light more affordable for more people.

Healthy lighting is no longer just a slogan. The Lumin team has currently developed the third-generation artificial solar spectrum PROSUN. The third generation of artificial solar spectral lighting fixtures will be revolutionary products. The third generation PROSUN fills the gaps in the previous generation's artificial solar spectrum by adding necessary violet UVA to enrich far-infrared light.
